The Longest Hike Ever

Well… at least the longest hike ever to me.  I was SO excited!  Maybe since I knew I could eat a lot after I was done Winking smile.  But first you gotta drive there.  I love driving through tunnels!  Am I the only one?

We finally make it to Yosemite Valley.  It is breathtaking.

But the thought of seeing a bear didn’t exactly make me happy.

We went on the Mist Trail, which takes you to 2 water falls… Vernal & Nevada.  Even before the falls there is tons of scenery to see.

I knew it was going to start to get tough, but it really hit me when I saw the huge winding stairs.

The 7 mile trail was supposed to take about 5 hours, so we stocked up with plenty of water and peanut butter sandwiches.  But these little rascals wanted my food!  As soon as they smell anything they are right up on you.  I swear the squirrel on the rock above me was going to pounce on me ninja style to make me drop my sandwich.  Luckily Jay scared it off.

After about 1 hour we made it to the first fall, Vernal Falls.  It was spectacular!

It’s fed my the Emerald Pool.  What a view!

Then we hiked, and hiked, and hiked.  We HAD to make it to Nevada Falls.  1,800 feet and a lot of winding cliffs later, we got there.  It was even more beautiful than Vernal.

Then we made the 3.5 mile trip back down a winding road.  I felt good!  But my legs felt VERY tired!  That night I couldn’t even make it to True Blood. We both fell asleep around 8:30.  Now that was a great nights sleep.  This weekend, we are hitting the Redwoods!  Do you like to hike?
