One Night in San Fran

I finally have some time now to write about our mini-staycation/babymoon in San Francisco! I was lucky enough to win a 1-night stay at the Westin St. Francis at my company holiday party. Check in was a breeze and then we tried to figure out the elevator. You enter the floor you want to go to, then it tells you which elevator to go to. There is no way of pressing buttons on the inside. I thought it was the coolest thing ever (nerd alert)!

photo1The view from our room wasn’t so bad either ;)

photo4We dropped off our stuff and went for a walk towards Little Italy. While we were walking there we got pretty hungry, so I pulled out my Yelp app to find a good restaurant. The highest rated place that was only 1 block away was The House, and Asian restaurant right off Columbus Ave. I’m so glad we stopped in there to eat, it was delicious!

Jay and I split a couple things. First up was Wasabi Noodles with pork. The noodles were house made, and came with a savory sweet sauce with just a hint of wasabi. The pork was perfectly cooked.

photo6The other item was the special of the day, a Kobe Skirt Steak Sandwich. The bread was crusty, the steak was tender. It was a great sandwich. I loved those teeny weeny shoestring fries and added a few of those to the sandwich too.

photo3As we walked back towards our hotel we made a detour through Chinatown. All those meats in the window were making me a little nauseous. At one point, I even spotted a guy butchering a turtle.

photo5Then we made it over to Top of the Mark, a bar on the top level of the Intercontinental hotel. The views were amazing! I sipped on Ginger Ale while Jay had an Anchor Steam. That was definitely one of those times that I wished I had a real drink…sigh.

photo2We had a great day! I would talk about our dinner at Espetus Churrasceria… but it was SO average. Oh well! The next morning we woke up bright and early and headed home to get little Bella. She was so tired from playing with her friends at the kennel. Then we all took a nice little nap on the couch.

  1. Oh my lanta – I am DYING to head out to San Fran. One of the dietetic internships I am looking at is based in that city. So jealous :)
    The wasabi noodles look divine.

  2. Great view! Looks like you had a really awesome mini-getaway. :)

When we were dating, Danny and I liked to go to a little bed and breakfast that’s about an hour away from here. You just inspired me to ask him if he’d like to head over there for a night before I have the baby. :)

Bella’s stinkin’ adorable, by the way!
