It’s been a while! I have been so busy this week, ugh. I forgot to tell you guys all about one of the highlights from last Friday, my company’s holiday party. It was a surprise where we were going. The only thing they told us was that we were going to San Francisco and making multiple stops. I assumed it would be hotels (since my company does lots of large events in several in the city) and I was right! The first stop was the Palace Hotel. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas.
This was our appetizer stop. We had tempura fish and what I think was a crab cake. Unfortunately neither of them were very tasty.
But I was happy to get this little gift box of sea salt!
Our next stop was the Four Seasons. This was our main event. They had stations set up for us with all different stuff. First I went for the slider and fries. I couldn’t believe how juicy the burger was for being on a buffet. Kudos to them!
My other favorite was the chicken & waffles. When I saw it I was in absolute heaven. An attendant was making the waffles fresh, and it was topped with a fried chicken tender and maple syrup. My only issue was that the chicken breading had too many herbs in it, which clashed with the syrup.
Our last stop was The Westin St. Francis, right in the heart of Union Square. This was what I was looking forward to the most, dessert. I stocked my plate with goodies. Might as well indulge when I couldn’t have any of the champagne that was passed around all day. It was all about the chocolate, which I didn’t mind at all. Needless to say, I was very happy. Then the best part of the day… the hotel had a raffle for the employees of our company. I won the grand prize! A 1 night stay in their hotel, woohoo. We will be going in the next couple months for a nice night out in the city.

I’ve never been brave enough to try chicken & waffles – it sounds weirdly delicious! It’s so cool that your work put on such a lovely party!
I won an iPod Nano in a raffle once, and it was a complete accident. My college was offering raffle tickets to students who wore their college T-shirt the first day of class, and I completely forgot – but as I was walking by the lady who was doing it, she gave me a ticket anyway because she had been my advisor. I was so surprised to see I won the grand prize!
Then, last year, my husband went to a Verizon to pick up my new phone, completely unaware that they were holding an event. They gave him a piece of chocolate and told him whoever gets the golden ticket wins a Galaxy Tab. He held his up and said “you mean this?” and they were so surprised! It’s weird that we win things by accident, but when I try, I don’t win!
