I Needed Chinese Food

Another great weekend flew by. We had another great hike, this time in the Marin Headlands. How can you beat these views of the Golden Gate Bridge?!

After hiking for about 3 hours, we were SO ready to eat! Jay immediately said “I’m craving egg rolls”. It was exactly what I was thinking too. I searched on Yelp for places on the way home but close to us and came upon Tommy’s Wok in Sausalito. Luckily, they had just opened the doors for dinner at 4pm and we were the first customers. We immediately ordered our craving, egg rolls! They were delicious…hot, crispy, not greasy. I mixed the hot mustard and sweet & sour sauce for dipping.

We also got another fried goody, shrimp rolls. These thin little fried rolls (same wrapper as the egg roll) were filled with, you guessed it, plain ol shrimp. It was just what I wanted since I have been craving shrimp for a while now.

I deliberated on my entrée for a while. I’m a duck freak, and they too many duck options for me to decide from. But when I saw the Roasted Duck came with freshly steamed buns it made my decision. Those cloud-like little puffs of bread are another fave of mine, and I never see it served with an entrée. I had to take advantage! It was steamy, fluffy perfection.

The duck was amazing! Every single piece of skin was crispy, and the meat was juicy. The amount of meat was perfect for the four buns it was served with. The dish came with plum sauce and hoisin sauce, both of which I used and loved.

My little makeshift duck buns hit the spot! I’m already craving them. I’m sure Jay and I will be going back very soon :) Maybe I’ll even take a picture of his food next time. By the time he got his Mongolian Beef, I was too mesmerized my buns, whoops!

  1. Girl, I had Vietnamese a few hours ago but now I want some duck! I love Sausalito and am so jealous of all of your GG pics. Anytime I visited SF it was always cloudy and I never got a good shot. Glad to see you’re enjoying CA :)

  2. Hike looks amazing and egg rolls and duck buns (!) too! Yummy! I wish our chinese food was as good here as where you are… might have to drag Ritchie to our favourite London chinese place after seeing this.
