Baby O’s size: Peach (almost 3 inches)
Baby O’s developments: Vocal chords and fingerprints.
Currently craving: Burgers, Lemonade, and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Weight gain this week: .8 lb (3lb total)
Sleep: Very good! I wake up a few times during the night, but fall right back asleep.
Dreams: I had a dream this past week that I was having a boy. The doctor just pointed at the ultrasound and said “it’s a boy!”. I have very elaborate dreams every night. One of the crazy ones involved Snookie (from Jersey Shore) and I working at an MTV booth at a pool. But Snookie drank all the alcohol we were supposed to give to partygoers, and chaos ensued. It was pretty funny.
Symptoms: Fatigue made a visit on Sunday, but not for too long. On Monday my stomach felt bigger/majorly bloated.
Emotions: Pretty even keel for now.
Movement: None yet!
Pains: Not too many this week, just a couple mild headaches and minor cramping.
Appointments: Had my monthly appointment last week. Pretty standard stuff….except that I found out that I have O Negative blood. Roughly 15% of people have a negative blood type. Basically, that means that if Baby O is positive, my body won’t like it. I have to get a shot, Rhogan, at 28 weeks to prevent my blood from developing antibodies to fight off the invading positive blood (if the blood mixes from 28 weeks through birth, which could happen if the placenta tears). Then if Baby O is born with positive blood, I will need another shot. This will prevent the formation of antibodies that might fight off a positive Baby 2 (because the baby’s blood will mix with mine at birth). It’s all a little confusing. The midwife told me it was completely normal. From the reading I’ve done about it, I’m not very worried.
Exercise: Last week I exercised 3 times. I’ve been working out in the morning since that is when I have the most energy. But I usually won’t work out if I’ve gotten less than 7 hours of sleep. I’ve been trying to do almost the same workouts as before, just toning them down. When I run, I’ve been running at a 5 instead of 6. I’m taking it slightly easier on the weights, trying not to strain myself so much. My usual workout consists of upper or lower body weights, then 20 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical.
Maternity wear: Since I felt bloated and uncomfortable on Monday I broke out the Bella Band! I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, but I felt like it worked like a charm. I want to see how long I can make it without buying maternity jeans. I’m wearing it today too… jeans are just getting to uncomfortable now to try to button them.
Baby related purchases: I traded in my 2-seater convertible for a Nissan Murano. I actually cried when we finalized the deal. It was very bitter-sweet. That car was so much fun to drive, but I know Baby O needs a safer car.
