Road Trip Part 1!

Phew!  I am finally in California!  I literally just finished hanging up my last piece of clothing, so now it’s time to start blogging again.  Last Saturday, we left our home in Pompano Beach.  It was bittersweet.  It’s hard to say bye to family and friends, but exciting to start a new adventure.

Bella & Jay are sad!

Day 1 of driving took us from Pompano Beach to Mobile.  We got to Mobile and were so friggin tired all we did was get McDonald’s and go to bed.  Pretty bad!  But, in the Florida panhandle I did get a chance to pick up some good snacks.

Day 2 was the drive from Mobile to San Antonio.  Heading through Louisiana I saw a site that I have only heard about…the Wiener Mobile!  I said to Jay… “What the eff is that big orange thing in front of us?”.  Then it came to me…”Dang! It’s the Wiener Mobile!”.

We got to San Antonio at around 6:30 pm on Sunday night.  It was a nice easy day of driving.  We got a hotel downtown close to River Walk.  It is a great place to go!  The San Antonio River is 1 story under the downtown streets.  It’s lined with shops, bars, and restaurants.

Ready for a night out… and a few margaritas

After roaming around River Walk, we ate at Acenar, a “Modern Mexican” restaurant on the River Walk.  The full review is coming soon, but here is a preview of one of the best dishes of the night…A fried oyster app with pineapple.  It was an amazing flavor combo.

See you guys this weekend for Part 2 of my road trip!

Doggie Travel Tip: Stay at La Quinta!  Most of the hotels are super dog friendly, and they have a tasty breakfast that’s included with your room.  But check reviews first!  Some are way better than others.

  1. Wow, Jay and Bella look so pitiful in that pic. But great things are coming your way so it will all work out!

I love that you saw the Wienermobile, thats just awesome. And I LOVE San Antonio RiverWalk, it’s so serene yet energetic. Can’t wait to hear more!!

  2. Really hope you enjoy California. There is a lot of different climates there, whether you are on the coast or inland. I lived in southern Cal for years.

I miss the good food and friends, warmer climate.
