Turkey Trotting

It’s that time… the time I need to start really training for my race! I’m running the Disney Half Marathon for the ABTA. The race is on January 7th, so time to get my booty in gear. As part of my training schedule I decided to run the Turkey Trot 5k in Ft Lauderdale on Thanksgiving morning. At least I can burn some calories before I eat my weight in turkey & stuffing!

Here is what I’m doing training wise from now until the race. I run/walk a 4:1 pace. Runners…please feel free to chime in!

EVERY week – 4 mile run on Tuesdays & Thursdays
Sundays:
11/27 – 7 miles
12/4 – 8 miles
12/11 – 9 miles
12/18 – 10 miles
12/24 – 7 miles
12/31 – 4 miles (a week before the race)
Tues & Thurs the week of the race I was going to do a 3 min walk: 1 min run for 45 minutes.

Now for Thanksgiving plans! Andrea, Jay, and I (mostly, hehe) are cooking. Just a few of Jay’s coworkers are coming over, but there will still be lots of food! Here is the menu…

Appetizers: My famous Pillsbury Bake-Off Blue Cheesy Prosciutto Appetizer Pizza & Stuffed Mushrooms.

Turkey: Fried Turkey! Soooo friggin good.

Sides: Sausage & Apple Stuffing, Sweet Potato Casserole, Twice Baked Potatoes and Bacony Green Beans

Dessert: My sis’s famous Pumpkin Cheesecake with Praline Topping

What are you most looking forward to eating on Thanksgiving?
