This weekend was my sister’s last weekend in South Florida for a while….she is moving to Denver right after Thanksgiving. I’m so happy for her to start a new adventure, but I will miss her! On Saturday night, we had a going away dinner for her at Sazio in Delray Beach. Sazio is a reasonably priced Italian restaurant that has a great selection of food. I was famished so everything looked incredible. They bring out bread to every table, but ours took a while. The bread seems to be made out of pizza dough, with a sun dried tomato oil dipping sauce. It was worth the wait! You could tell the bread was freshly made.
Our entrées arrived and I was ready! The sis and I split 2 dishes. The first was Penne Pollo, a huge bowl of Penne pasta, tossed with a Gorgonzola cream sauce with sun dried tomatoes, asparagus, and grilled chicken. After adding some salt, it was perfect.
Our pizza was one of the hits of the table. The Pizza Caramellata had bacon, carmelized onions and goat cheese. Man was it good! All the flavors blended perfectly together and the crust was not too crispy, not too soft.
Jay got Tortellini Carbonara. I’m pretty sure it was not a traditional carbonara sauce and the tortellini was store bought. But it tasted pretty good to me.
My dad definitely ordered a drool-worthy dish! He got the Stromboli, which is basically a sauceless pizza rolled up and baked. The filling was mozzarella, sausage, and pepperoni. It was huge! There were plenty of delicious leftovers.
I really like Sazio, but the no reservations is annoying. PLUS, when our party of 6 was still only a party of 5, they wouldn’t let us sit down (even though my mom was only a couple minutes away)! Letting anyone else with a large party to go through, ugh. Plus, the server never came around to see if we wanted refills. I would eat there again, as long as there wasn’t a wait.
On another note, my sis & I had our final movie date…Breaking Dawn (of course!). I liked it, especially the final shot. They ended it in a good spot. I saw this picture and started cracking up… the “sparkling” thing is a little weird. Plus, Brad & Tom did make amazing vampires.
…. and my computer is FINALLY fixed, yay! Now I can finally get back to blog reading.
What is your favorite Italian Food?
Have you seen Breaking Dawn?

That place looks awesome but the no seating and reservation thing would piss me off as well. I could definitely go for some of that pizza right now though.
Tell your sis to look me up when she’s here-I finally found a place to live, yay!
I have totally been craving real, Gluten-filled Italian food! I need to figure out some workable substitutes!
I have to admit that the sparkling vampire thing always makes me roll my eyes a little.
I would have ordered the exact same thing. Anything with a gorganzola cream sauce and goat cheese is a must! That stinks that your sister is moving
Mmm, everything looks good, but that stromboli especially is killing me! Yum!
I am a sucker for Italian food, picking just one favorite is so hard! Lasagna, chicken parmigiana, or simple spaghetti and meatballs…depends on what I am in the mood for at the moment!
That food looks delicious! My favorite Italian dish is vodka rigatoni! So good
Gorgonzola cream sauce = heaven. My fav Italian food might be just tortellini in rich alfredo sauce. So simple – so good
Oh wow what a great looking place! Favorite Italian food? not going to lie, that is quite a difficult decision to make haha… I think I would go with chicken or eggplant parm
And yeah the sparkling thing is way weird!
That bread looks amazing!!!!
I still need to go see Breaking Dawn. I loved all the books and I am curious to see how they made this movie with the birth and all!!
That pizza is definitely what my dreams are made of!
