So That's What the Number Means?!
Today I was definitely glad that I woke up in a pretty good mood. I woke up refreshed and ready for the day. For breakfast I made my shake with 1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology, 1 cup skim milk, 3 ice cubes, and 1 tbsp of instant coffee. It was deeee-licious!
I was super busy at work today but at 10:30 I looked at the clock and suddenly got hungry. I think my body is getting used to eating every 3 hours for sure. My morning snack was a peach and a Publix string cheese. The peach was ok, it definitely could have used a little more ripening. Maybe I'm not good at picking them out?
Lunch was some low-sodium turkey on a La Tortillla Wrap with laughing cow light and mustard. On the side I had some carrots and light ranch to dip.
My afternoon snack was a Luna White Chocolate Macadamia Nut bar. It was great! It was my first time trying the Luna version of this flavor. I really liked the strong white chocolate flavor.
When I got home I did Burn Circuit 3...my last ever of the Burn Circuit workouts from Chalean Extreme. Almost done with my 30 days now! On Thursday I take my stats to see how I've improved. For dinner I decided to make some Nachos. I used the last of my rotisserie chicken, low fat cheddar, Guiltless Gourmet baked blue tortilla chips, and some pineapple. The pineapple was an awesome addition! I love the sweet and salty combo.

* But I had WAAY too much sodium. The nachos really killed it!
What I learned today (from Access Hollywood of all things):
A woman talking about the numbered stickers on fresh fruits and vegetables and what they mean. I always thought they were slightly random but they aren't!
If the number starts with a 4, it is conventionally grown.
If it starts with an 8, it has been Genetically Modified! Horrible! Who knows what kind of experiments they did on that seed to make it "better".
If it starts with a 9, it was organically grown.
To remember...
I hate 8 (GMO)
4 is a bore (NOT organic)
9 is fine (ORGANIC)

ooo I never had any idea what those numbers ment!
oh yeah, I heard about the numbers in a podcast! But I forgot abt it until you reminded me.
I'm pretty sure the numbers thing (to tell you if food is genetically modified) is an urban myth.
I've always wondered about those numbers!! Interestinggg!!
I was super curious as to the number thing, so I looked it up, and indeed, it is true.

On page 7 of the International Federation for Produce Standards' PLU Codes User's Guide, it lists 0, 8, and 9 as "non-qualified", genetically modified, and organic (as you listed). Just to let the commenter above know it isn't an urban myth! :)
Also, there's a cool site where you can look up any kind of produce by its code: http://www.fruitsticker.com/
Thanks for bringing up such a neat fact!
i love your rhyme for the produce numbers! so clever!
That's a neat piece of information! I had no idea about it!!
Hi,
I wanted to know what a '3" meant and was remembering exactly all the others. I googled and your blog cam up. It was very helpful. I also learned from another site that 3 is no different than 4 on a PLU code.
Thanks,
Heather
